Huh. I went to the doctor a month ago for a routine checkup, and my blood work came back showing I had decreased function in my thyroid gland. The doctor had me wait several weeks and then have more blood work done, in order to confirm the diagnosis. This morning I had the follow up, and I do indeed have an underactive thyroid gland. The good news, as I told my wife, was that going by the informational sheet about hypothyroidism that the doctor gave me, anything that I do that is the least bit annoying is totally not my fault, it's just because of my thyroid. :-P

Seriously, it just means I have to take a thyroid supplement every day for the rest of my life. Not any big deal at all. Just kinda weird.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism shortly before our wedding. My diagnosis also showed I had a thyroid nodule, which means every other year I get to go have an ultrasound of my throat to make sure the nodule has continued to shrink, or at least not grow.

But other than that, yeah, a couple of pills every morning, and a blood test every year. No biggie.

I'll have to try that "it's not my fault, blame my thyroid" excuse with Skippy sometime.

It's also possible that you might lose weight by getting your thyroid in check.
