Over the weekend I started getting sick. No cough, but my voice started to go and my chest felt heavy plus general body aches. Yay. I knew I had NyQuil in the medicine cabinet, but I also had Ben for the weekend so passing out in a drug-induced stupor was really not an option. I stopped by the store and picked up the non-drowsy daytime version, figuring I could switch to the NyQuil once Ben went home.
Last night he finally went home a little before 9pm and I headed for the medicine chest. When I opened the bottle I noticed a funny coloration around the cap and it didn't smell quite right. I looked for the expiration date on the bottle: 01/00. Apparently I have been carrying this particular bottle around for years. Now that I think of it, the last time I remember taking the NyQuil would have been in '98 (the summer I worked in Houston). Hm. So anyway, I wasn't feeling bold enough to take medicine that expired three years ago, so I took another dose of the DayQuil.
Future personal reference, taking non-drowsy medicine at bedtime is not necessarily a wse idea.
