Just in case anyone is worried about us, I thought I should let everyone know that Hurricane Frances has turned out to be pretty mild (at least right where we are). The storm took seemingly forever to arrive, hovering off the Florida coastline for hours before finally drifting onto the peninsula. Although by last account there are over four million people without power, we are not among them. The power has flickered off a half dozen times, but has never stayed off for more than a few seconds. Although the wind last night was strong enough to wake me up periodically, it never reached that howling, aggressive level that Charley did. Looking at the maps, it appears that the storm's path drifted well south of us and spared us the strongest winds. All in all it has been a pretty mundane storm, which quite frankly is exactly the way I like my hurricanes. Hopefully Hurricane Ivan, currently spinning itself up to Category 3 out in the Atlantic, will have the good sense to just drift it's way to the south and never get around to making landfall. Honestly, three hurricanes in a month would just be a bit much.
