As of yesterday morning, the population at Lokheed Manor doubled with the addition of two cats. I picked them up from the airport directly after dropping Ben off at school, and brought them here to their new home. Not surprisingly they were both a little shell shocked from their long trip (over 12 hours in their carriers, and no doubt they traveled through some pretty scary places en route). The good news is, they both settled in very quickly and are doing quite well. As I write this Orlando is curled up and sleeping in the valley between the back of my shoulders and the back of my chair. Don't ask me how, but he seems to be darn comfortable. Calliope is curled up and napping in the other office chair, and seems to be content.
Ben had his first good look at Orlando earlier today, and he got a huge grin on his face. "Puppies!" he exclaimed with obvious joy. I corrected him, telling him it was a cat. "Cat." Then I told him the cat's name was Orlando. " 'Lando!" Ben never actually got close enough to pet him, but he certainly seemed happy to have pets in the house.
Both cats have become comfortable here surprisingly fast. Orlando started exploring the house pretty much right away, and although Calliope hid in the closet for much of yesterday she was out and about during the night and has been making herself much more visible today. I'm sure they miss Kris and will be happy when she arrives next month, but overall they seem pretty content here.
