This past monday I got to chaparone Ben's class on a field trip to Green Meadows Farm. The greatest treat of the day, however, was being at the school as Ben got off the bus and being able to see a typical morning for him there. I was very, very impressed with the things he was doing in class. You can see the pictures from monday here.
On wednesday we tried something a little different. Generally wednesdays are Magic Kingdom days, but Snow White's Scary Adventures has been closed for a rehab for the past few weeks and it has been very frustrating for Ben. We decided to try taking him to Universal, thinking he might at least like the Dr. Suess island with the One Fish, Two Fish ride and the Cat in the Hat ride. As it turned out, he pretty much wanted to just walk the park at Islands of Adventure, and was not the least bit interested in trying the rides on Suess island. Then we went over to the other side of the park where he discovered the American Tail playground, which he really enjoyed. It happened to be right next to the E.T. ride, so we tried taking him on that. For most of the ride we thought we had a winner - he was happy and smiling all through the line and onto the ride itself, flying through the forest and then over the city. It was the last part of the ride where things went rapidly downhill. The final sequence is where you arrive at E.T.'s home planet, which is filled with happy aliens screeching happily out at you as you pass by. It scared the hell out of Ben. He was sobbing as he got off the ride, confused as to why we would torture him like that. I felt awful. Anyway, here are some pictures from that day as well.
One last bit of news: my next trip to Seattle is planned. I will arrive in Seattle at about 3pm on Monday, June 7th and then fly back to Orlando on the morning of Friday, June 11th. At this point I have no solid plans whatsoever for this visit, so if you want to see me let me know.
