I gotta start by giving props to
icebluenothing for turning me on to metafilter many moons ago. I was browsing the threads there earlier today and saw one about a website that gives comparison reviews for DVDs from different regions, so that if you have a region-free player you can make an informed decision about which release of a given movie to buy. One of the comments in the thread mentioned regionfreedvd.net as a good source for info on how to change your player to be region free, if possible. On a whim I went there and looked up my particular player. As it turns out, all I have to do is repeatedly press the 1 key on my remote while a disc is loading and the player will ignore the region encoding. Here I had spent the last six months relegated to watching my Region 2 discs on the computer, when all I had to do is punch buttons on the remote. Frankly I am shocked that Ben didn't figure this out for me months ago, given his preference lately to watch movies in French if possible, or Spanish otherwise. Just what I need, an autistic son that speaks two languages I don't understand...
In other news, my next trip to Seattle is now confirmed. I will be arriving late in the evening on Sunday, March 14th and flying back home on the morning of Friday, March 19th. Mark your calendars, have your girl call my girl and we can do lunch while I am in town.
