Back in July during the grand adventure, [livejournal.com profile] retcon drove my car from Seattle to Orlando while I drove Sara's car. Sometime after he went back home I noticed that the cigarette lighter from my dashboard was missing, but I didn't really think much about it. I figured he had probably told me where he put it and I just forgot, or that it would turn up eventually in any case. Yesterday afternoon while I was cleaning my car I opened my ashtray, presumably for the first time in six months, and found the cigarette lighter sitting right there safely tucked away in a logical place. I suppose if I was a smoker I would have found it much sooner.

In other news:
I just got home from taking my mom to the airport a little while ago. Overall she had a very nice visit, and got to spend lots of time with Ben. She really seemed to enjoy just sitting out on the patio reading a book and taking in the sunshine (it's been mostly in the 70's the past week). We had several good conversations, and also had fun going out to a few places while she was here. She even got to see the ocean, if only for a few minutes before Ben was ready to get back in the car.

Health-wise, the change while she was here was pretty remarkable. Aside from the fact that she tripped and fell the second night she was here, leaving her limping for the rest of her visit, her general health and mental condition were very good. No wild swings in her PT level, certainly not enough to become symptomatic in either direction; no headaches; none of the miserable conditions that have made her day-to-day life so difficult of late. The only logical conclusion is that stress is a huge factor in her condition. That is both good and bad news. Good, in that it means her condition is better than perhaps she had previously assumed. Bad, in that the stressors in her life are not likely to change anytime soon and she doesn't have many options on how to relieve them. We'll see what happens once she gets home.
