A little true story to restore your faith in humanity:

Kris' boss owns a building on the Ave in Seattle. One of the tennants of the building is a flower shop owned by a little old Japanese woman. One of the darker bits of recent U.S. history is of course the Japanese internment camps during WWII. Japanese families were rounded up and sent off to the camps, and most of them lost everything they owned. At the time that building was owned by the grandfather of Kris' boss, and the flower shop was owned by the same family. When the family was sent to the internment camp, the building owner boarded up the flower shop and left absolutely everything intact until the family returned to reclaim it.

And that, my friends, is what real patriotism is about.
