I know, I know, it's been forever since I have posted anything in my journal. Sorry, I've been a wee bit busy.

So. The Seattle trip:

Monday:
The day started off fine, with me getting Ben sent off to school and then hitting the local IHOP for a decent breakfast. I got to the airport with plenty of time to spare, got my car parked in a long term lot, made my way through security with no incidents, and soon enough I was on a plane from Orlando to Dallas/Fort Worth. Upon arriving at DFW and walking the entire length of the concourse to get to my connecting flight, the announcement of a gate change was made and I had to turn around and walk almost all the way back to where I started in order to board my flight to Seattle. Then the thunder storm started, and all westbound flights were grounded. We sat on the runway for two hours before finally being cleared to take off. I finally arrived in Seattle two hours late, tired, and hungry. But I got to see Kris, so that was okay. We went home, had some dinner, and went to bed.

Tuesday:
Rain, rain, and more rain led to flooding and accidents everywhere. It took me over two hours to get to work. Grr. I spent a lot of time chatting with co-workers, and was pleased to discover that my perception was confirmed that things are going just fine with me working remotely. Everybody is very happy with the work I am doing. Yay! That night Kris and I went to my mom's place for an early Thanksgiving dinner. My sister and her two kids were there, and overall it was a very nice evening.

Wednesday:
Snow. Can you believe it? Not tons of it, but enough to cause more traffic problems. Again it took me two hours to get to work. Ugh. At this point I was expecting either an earthquake or a volcanic eruption for thursday. Work-wise, things were going well. Vanya fit right in to the team and started finding lots of bugs for me to fix. Good deal. That night Kris and I had dinner with her father and stepmother. If was a very nice evening, and I really liked them. Good people.

Thursday:
Amazingly enough, no earthquake. I actually got to work in under an hour. Spent most of the days making the rounds and saying goodbye to people again. That evening was a Pat Pack get together, which was fun. Matt and Jen also showed up, and it was great to see them. After that I went and hung out with Riff & treeby (and eventually Six once he arrived). At some point the evening turned into a viewing of the bizzare GI JOE psa's and then I introduced them to Red vs. Blue. (BTW - the dvd of the entire first season of RvB, including all of the PSA's, is now available in their web store. Do yourself a favor and buy it.)

Friday:
Again with the snow. We got to the airport just fine, but while Kris' flight took off on time my flight was delayed by nearly two hours waiting to get the plane de-iced. I blew my connection in DFW and was almost put on a flight that would arrive in Orlando five hours later than originally planned, leaving Kris stranded at the airport waiting for me. To the credit of the nice people at American Airlines, they actually managed to fit me onto an earlier flight that was already overbooked. It took a lot of waiting and nail-chewing, but just at the last moment before closing the doors they had a no-show and let me on. So Kris only had to wait about fifteen minutes for me, and didn't even realize my flight had been delayed. We were both starving, and grabbed something at a drive through and then went home and went to bed.

So that was my Seattle trip. I'll write about Thanksgiving week... um.... soon.
