Just some quick notes on my day, before I go to bed....

Today Sara started teaching full time at a local high school. I am happy for her, and I hope she does well. Unfortunately, her schedule is such that I need to put Ben on the bus for school in the mornings so she can leave for work on time. It seems to work out well, though. This morning I set my alarm for 6am, rolled out of bed and into some workout clothes, and headed over to Sara's place. As soon as she was gone to work, I got Ben up and ready for school, and by 7:20 he was on the bus and on his way. From there I headed over to the Kilarney Station, which is the starting point of the West Orange Trail. I strapped on all of my safety gear, put on my skates, and put in five miles out and back on the trail. Suffice to say that by the time I made it back to my car I was a bit ripe.

I needed gas, and have also found gas prices to be five to ten cents cheaper up in Winter Garden, so I stopped in at a Chevron to fill up and to get some cold bottled water. I walked up to the counter with my water, still dripping in sweat, and the girl working the register took one look at me and said, "You look hot..." No, she wasn't swooning over my athletic good looks, I am pretty sure she was trying to find a nice way to say, "your body odor is overpowering, and you look like you are about to drop from a heart attack..." So anyway, I just kinda shrugged and pointed out that I had just skated ten miles, paid for my water, and went on my way. It was a few minutes later that I realized that I had missed an opening from the God of pickup lines ("You look hot..." "Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself >wink<..."). It's a damn good thing I've got Kris, 'cause I am just hopeless as a single guy.

Work-wise it was a pretty slow day. Had an hour long call-in meeting. listening to the CEO talk about what is going on in the company. I respect the hell out of Matthew, I really do. He strikes me as a stand-up kinda guy, and he seriously impressed me with how he and Kristy (the other CEO) handled things post 9-11. Still, I'd by lying if I said I wasn't disappointed that it looks like there is no hope for a bonus or a merit increase in 2003. Grr. Way back when I was hoping for that money to pay for my move, and now I was hoping for it to pay for Kris' move. It just ain't gonna happen. I have no doubt that bonuses and raises will get paid in the spring, and that will be nice and all, but financially things are just looking tight for the next few months.

I have no worries long term. Once Kris is down here and finds a job, lord knows we'll have enough income to live without worries. I just wish I had the money to help pay for moving Kris here. I feel bad enough to be dragging her away from everything in Seattle, and all she gets as a prize is my sorry ass. Ah well. I'm sure we'll muddle through somehow.

I gots to get to bed now. That alarm goes off awful dang early in the morning...

So what you are saying...

is your ass is mine? There *are* witnesses you know, you can't take that back.

So, I've been thinking, it is just too much work and costs too much money to move. We can just get married anyway and live on two different coasts. I can fly out there and visit 4 or 5 times a year. We can talk everyday online, call on the phone occasionally. (Don't you dare agree with me here!)

It's all going to work out. I'm trying to not be overwhelmed by the details and money issues, but we do have the luxury of time. As much as I want to be there *right now*, I don't have a real deadline. I can stay and work as long as is practical, if we can't afford to move my things until January when I go, then that gives us three more months to afford it.

I'm thinking the November date I was hoping for is too ambitious. Since I am not going to leave until January anyway, let's take November off the table. There, I feel better! and by "November" I mean the shipping of my things, *I* will still be there for a long visit.
