It's been a very productive day over at my mom's place. For starters I fixed the swing in the front yard. It's your basic "throw a couple of ropes around a thick branch" kind of swing, and one of the ropes came untied yesterday. Since it happend when my kid was playing on it, I kind if figured it was my resposibility to fix it as well. I shimmied up the tree, crawled out on the limb, and re-tied the rope with a figure-eight self-tightening knot that I learned from rock climbing. I figure if that kind of knot can hold my rather substantial mass while scaling a rock face, it should hold a kid on a swing just fine.

Then I moved on to installing a ceiling fan in the computer room. In order to get it up I first had to remove the existing electrical box and install a brace between the studs that would safely carry the weight of the fan. I installed a new electrical box and mounted the fan's hanging strap to it, then wired everything up and assembled the fan blades and such. Now my mom has a nice cool breeze while she plays her games, so that's pretty cool.

Am I qualified to sign up to work on Monster House yet?

Why not?

You can't be worse than that Justin(?) guy who worked on the Western Saloon!

Not trying to one-up you or anything, but today *I* used a chipping hammer, a needle gun, an angle grinder(which threw off sparks of Jesse Jamesian proportions), uh, and a shop-vac! I also did some "electrical", which consisted of plugging in aforementioned tools! ;P

Worked like a dog all day in the sun, as a matter of fact, a dog would *not* have worked as hard as I did, because they are NOT STUPID enough to work that hard IN THE SUN! I was so glad it rained, I stood outside in it and let it drench me. Then I took a shower and went to bed, at 8PM... now I'm wide awake...

I get to do that all over again tomorrow... but I think I'll work below deck out of the weather, whatever it may be tomorrow.
