So on a whim I decided to look up real estate in the Orlando area before heading off to bed.
(oh, side trip....)
Kris came over tonight. It was very nice to spend time with her, I hadn't seen her since the Vancouver trip nine days ago. We watched the first episode of The Kingdom ( Imagine a Danish Stephen King writing E.R. ), and then watched Swimming to Cambodia. Great stuff. We're watching the next episode of The Kingdom tomorrow night. Two nights in a row, woo hoo!
So anyway, she left for home and for some odd reason I decided to take a look at houses in Orlando just to see if I could keep my fantasy of buying an actual house next year. I was looking for at least a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. Not new construction, just your basic decent first home. You know, the kind of thing you can get around her for around $250k if you are lucky. I was finding *four* bedroom houses for $125k. Do you know what the monthly payment on a $125k mortgage is? Roughly 75% of what my current rent is.
Whoa.
So anyway, I am signing a 12 month lease at my new apartment and I wouldn't want to buy a house until I was settled in enough to start really getting a feel for the area anyway, but I am seriously thinking that home ownership is truly within my grasp in 2004. That is just *so* *cool*.
