Let's see, where to start....
Saw my mom this weekend. She is doing surprisingly well, for someone with her leg in a cast and a pin sticking out of the end of her big toe. Seriously, it looks like someone took one of those round-headed pins you use to mark locations on a map. It doesn't seem to be overly bothering her, though. She is not in pain, and has not had any trouble sleeping. I think she goes in later this week to have the stitches removed and for another x-ray.
To pass the time, since she pretty much has to sit in one spot with her foot up most of the time, she has been working on her cross-stitch projects. She did a custom Sorcerer's Apprentice piece for Ben that turned out beautifully. Ben stopped dead in his tracks when he saw it, and got a huge smile on his face.
In other disturbing family medical news, apparently my sister went for an eye exam last week and was diagnosed with glaucoma. I'm not sure how serious it is, I haven't talked to her directly yet. Pretty scary, though, given that the possible outcome is blindness.
My final disturbing medical news is that apparently my son had grown gills. That is the only rational explanation for spending 4 hours on Friday and another 4 hours on Saturday in the swimming pool. I pretty much just brought a book and sat by the pool for hours on end while he had the time of his life swimming. Needless to say, he slept well. I have begun to look at the layout of the buildings in my new apartment complex, and am doing the math. With any luck, I will be able to set up a wi-fi base station with enough range so that I can sit in the shade by the pool and get work done on my laptop while Ben swims...
