Following up on the Michael Savage Thing

So, after having a conversation about it with my wife last night, I thought I should follow up on my previous post about Michael Savage. I just want to be perfectly clear: while I think Michael Savage is an ignorant, malignant stain on humanity, I don't for a minute dispute his right to state his opinion on anything. I don't support rushing out and boycotting the radio stations that broadcast his show, or their advertisers, because all that does is give him exactly the publicity he so obviously thrives upon. No, I just support laughing at him and pointing out the fact that he is a complete dick, and that while he is entitled to his opinion it should also be noted that his opinion is completely worthless and should carry no weight with any rational human being. It's not even a case of agreeing to disagree, it's that his opinion is based on a demonstrably factually incorrect premise, and as such has as much validity as a five-year-old's opinion on international monetary policy. (Well, actually, I would be more likely to at least hear out a five-year-old's argument on the basis that at least it is probably coming from a place of sincerity, instead of just being a cynical ploy to manufacture controversy.)
