How very sad. Verity Lambert, the original producer for Doctor Who, passed away yesterday following a long illness. At the time she produced Doctor Who in 1963 she was the youngest drama producer, and the only female drama producer, working at the BBC. Everything I have ever read about her, and every interview I have seen with her, has portrayed her as an amazingly talented woman. You can read more about her at the wikipedia article on her life. It is somehow fitting that news of her passing would come today, which is the 44th anniversary of the debut of Doctor Who.
