So, lately CHUD has been doing a series of articles on Guilty Pleasures. In today's entry they include Jason X. I have to admit that I, too, enjoyed the heck out of that movie. It's not a good movie, not by any stretch of the imagination. But taken on its own terms, it was certainly enjoyable (at least for me; your mileage may vary). I think the reviewer nailed it when he wrote:
Yup, that's pretty much it. And I have to say, the movie contains probably the best gratuitous nipple shot ever put on film. The fact that they had to actually use special effects for that shot only makes it better.
I like bad movies that don’t know they’re bad, but Jason X is interesting because it isn't aware of the ways in which it's bad. When the film thinks it’s being clever it’s actually just being buffoonish; in a lot of ways watching Jason X is like watching a guy with a lisp make fun of a guy with a stutter.
