I did my regular ten miles this morning on the Gen. James Van Fleet Trail this morning. I saw:
An immature eagle. At first I thought it was a hawk, but it was way too large for that - around 36" tall with a five foot wingspan.
A brilliantly red cardinal, which dashed across the trail about five feet off the ground and ten feet in front of me.
A large raccoon. At first I thought it was a small dog, until it turned to face me. Then it dashed off the trail into the underbrush.
One other skater, three bikers, and one man on foot running his dog. Usually I see about four other humans during my hour on the trail, so that's about average.
