I did my regular ten miles this morning on the Gen. James Van Fleet Trail this morning.  I saw:

  • An immature eagle.  At first I thought it was a hawk, but it was way too large for that - around 36" tall with a five foot wingspan.

  • A brilliantly red cardinal, which dashed across the trail about five feet off the ground and ten feet in front of me.

  • A large raccoon.  At first I thought it was a small dog, until it turned to face me.  Then it dashed off the trail into the underbrush.

  • One other skater, three bikers, and one man on foot running his dog.  Usually I see about four other humans during my hour on the trail, so that's about average.

All in all a very nice morning.

Sounds picturesque...lol also the racoon comment gave me a flashback to a comment about when in NYC and you think a creature is a small dog, don't try to pet it...it could be a rat! LOL ewww!
