I have always had a fetish for a Hemi 'Cuda, back from when I was far too young to be watching a movie like Phantasm. I know I will never own my dream car, a '71 Hemi 'Cuda convertable, because they only made 127 of them. But maybe I could settle for the hard top, right? Maybe go back a year to the '70 model, when they were at their peak production. With an original sticker price of $4,991.00 it shouldn't be so hard to pick one up, right?
Yeah. Right. Here's a video of a recent auction of an original 1970 Hemi 'Cuda Triple Black hardtop, all original with matching numbers (meaning all of the serial numbers match up to be original parts). The bidding starts at a hundred grand. I'll let you watch to find out what it eventually went for. Hint: it's more than my house. And my neighbor's house. Put together.
