The actual procedure only took about thirty minutes today.  By 1:15 Ben was in the recovery room, albiet sound asleep.  The procedure went very well, the stent was removed and there was no sign of any new inflamation or other problems.  More blood tests have come back, and it turns out that Ben's pancreatic enzyme function is severly impaired.  He will need to take an enzyme replacement supplement three times per day, for the rest of his life.  Without those enzymes, his digestive system is unable to properly break down fats and protiens.  This could also help to explain some of his dietary issues.

Anyway, after about ninety minutes in the recovery room Ben woke up and seemed to be completely pain free.  Within fifteen minutes of waking up, he was fully clothed and ready to go home.  He walked out of the hospital with a smile on his face and a bounce in his step.

So all in all it was a good day.  He was anxious to be back at the hospital, but ultimately very pleased when it turned out to be a very short and painless visit.  The new prescription is just a tiny pill, easily crushed and put in his juice.  It really was the best possible outcome overall.
