Ben was allowed to begin eating solid food today. Of the things he will eat, he is still not allowed to eat peanut butter (or, of course, french fries) because of the fat content. So basically it's nilla wafers, graham crackers, and fruit chews. If he does well with that, and if his numbers don't go up tomorrow, then he will be allowed the peanut butter.

His liver numbers are still elevated a little bit, but not enough to be concerned. If they are still elevated in three weeks, they might do a liver biopsy when they go in to take out the stent.

A seemingly endless battery of blood tests are being done to try to find the root cause of the pancreatitis, and thus far they have all come back as either normal or negative as the case may be. This is good, in that it continues to rule out possibilities. This will most likely be a chronic problem, and identifying the root cause will allow us to better manage the problem in the future so that it doesn't reach this point again.

Sara was very friendly when she spoke to me, and seemed genuinely concerned that I be kept up to date with everything. She went out of the way to say that of course I was welcome to come up to the hospital at anytime. As I put it to Kris earlier today, Sara always seems very warm an genuine as long as she is confident she has be boxed in the way she wants me. It's the moment I try to leave that box that she turns into a bitch. So there you have it.

I don't plan on going up tomorrow unless there is a dramatic change, but I do plan on going up for a visit on Monday after work.
