Not a whole lot new to report today. Ben had a reasonably good afternoon yesteday, but he was awake until after 3am. He wound up sleeping until about 11:30, and then got up and had a bath. He is currently watching tapes and contemplating life in general.
The blood results from today showed a slight increase in one of the pancreatic enzymes, and a decrease in the other. The doctor says the increase may just be margin of error from the lab, and we'll know better when we see a trend in tomorrow's blood draw. In her apparent mission to scare the hell out of me at least once every day, she said the blood tests showed the possibility that there might be an autoimmune problem that could have triggered the pancreatitis. Again, it will take further blood readings to know for sure. If there is an autoimmune problem, then we are looking at a lifetime of steroids to manage it. Swell.
On the home front, I don't even know if I *have* a home front anymore. Kris was in Seattle all last week. She got back home after Ben was in the hospital. I saw her briefly on Sunday to get her from the airport, and then I had to come back here to the hospital. I saw her for a few hours on Monday (I think it was Monday, it has all gotten to be a blur anymore), and we had dinner together. Then I had to come back to the hospital for a few hours. I went back home for the night, but had to be up and gone before 6am the next day. I went home last night, but she was asleep by the time I got home and was still asleep when I got up to leave for the hospital again. I am going to be here all night tonight, so the next time I will be home is tomorrow night sometime. Swell.
