As predicted, Ben did not sleep a wink last night. The sedative he got at 9pm made him woozy for about fifteen minutes, after which he perked right up. Since I had been up with him the night before, Sara stayed up with him last night while I got what rest I could.

We thought he was going to get a PICC line today, but due to a long chain of events that never happened. The plan is to have that done tomorrow. Once that is in place, he won't need to be stuck for blood draws anymore since they can be taken straight from the line.

Thus far his blood work is showing only a tiny bit of improvement, and his PT level is way up (that's a measure of his blood clotting factor, and right now his blood is very thin). It would appear that this is going to be a long waiting game.

Kris got back home today, and I have seen her for a grand total of maybe an hour. And most of that was driving in the car. I truly wish I could go home and be with her tonight, but I just can't leave the hospital. Sara got absolutely no sleep last night, so I'm on deck tonight for staying up with Ben. Hopefully he will sleep, he really needs it.

E and I are following very closely and thinking constantly of Ben, you, and Kris.

E suffered through an inflamed/infected liver in his teens, the whole experience very similar to Ben's thus far. He had a real close call and slow progress but a steady, full recovery.
