Every summer we have the same problem with Ben. For most kids summer vacation gets hard on them by August, but for kids like Ben who absolutely need the routine it is particularly harsh. Ben has become increasingly aggressive and out of sorts, his appetite has dropped dramatically, and he is just generally unhappy. Last week he kept asking me "take a bus?", and was upset when I had to say no.
This morning, Sara went into his room to wake him up for school. She whispered in his ear that the bus would be here soon and his eyes snapped open and he leapt out of bed. To say he was excited would be a gross understatement. He got ready for school and bounced on downstairs to leap on the bus, eager (one must assume) to escape the horror of time spent with his parents.
