Gator!

The first year I live here, I never saw a single wild gator outside of the drive Kris and I took to the Everglades.  I don't think it's that they weren't around, I think I just don't generally have an eye for nature.  Living with Kris for a while now, I have begun to get better at noticing that kind of thing.  So coming home from lunch today, this is what I saw on the opposite bank of the retention pond that runs behind our apartment:



I think its the open mouth that really sells it.  You'll notice I took the picture from the other side of the water.  My momma didn't raise no fools.

Yikes! When I was in FL for business earlier this year, they were teasing me about gators when the car broke down. A week later, on the same stretch of highway where we had stopped, they shot and killed a gator that had eaten a stranded traveler.
Yep, think I will stay away from swampland in Florida.
