Thought 1:
The house has been too damn quit the past few days. It's like the telltale heart, the silence condemning me for abandoning Spike. I definitely want to get a new pet, but I am shying away from another cat. I am thinking maybe a ferret. Or a turtle. Or an iguana. Hmm. Must continue to ponder this.
Thought 2:
My mom had another scare today. She went in for her regular blood draw, and her PT level was up to 14. As a point of reference, between 3.5 and 5.5 is normal. The highest it has ever gone before is 6.8. The higher the PT level, the thinner the blood. Anything over 10 is considered an extreme risk. The doctors thought that it was probably a bad reading and had her come back in for another blood draw. It came up 14.8. They gave her an IV and a shot of Vitamin K, which should bring it back down. She is scheduled for another blood draw at 4pm. She tells me not to worry. I am worried as hell. Basically right now with her blood so thin she could conceivably get a paper cut and bleed to death. What's to be worried about? *ack*
Thought #3:
Ben has been doing much better this week. He was apparently up later than usual last night, but nothing like Saturday. His overall demeanor has been leveling out as well. IT could be that the increased Prozac dosage is finally having an effect. (Prozac is a drug that has to accumulate in the body over time to have an effect, so dosage changes can take a few weeks to show any real effect). I spent the morning with him, and he was very happy and calm. Nice to see.
