For the record -

Sixth Sense:  I loved it.

Unbreakable:  I liked it right up until the ending, which felt completely forced and pointless.  It seemed like since his last movie ended with a big twist, Shyamalan thought that his next movie had to end the same way.  To me, at least, it came across as being tacked on as an afterthought.

Signs: I loved it.  All the things that other people disliked about it just worked for me.

So, then, The Village:

Blew chunks.  Big time.  It's not just because the big "surprise ending" wasn't.  I mean seriously, if you haven't seen the movie yet you already know what the twist is.  Trust me, you do.  You might think that it couldn't possibly be that stupid....  but it is.  Even leaving that aside, the movie just commits the cardinal sin of being dull.  There were moments that were good.  The costume was cool.  The sound editing was well done.  But the story?  A low rent Twilight Zone knock-off.  OOOOhhhhhh!  Look out!  That Which We Do Not Speak Of is coming to get you!  Oooooh!  Hide the forbidden color!  OOOooohhh!  Darth Vader is a Wookie!
