I just got home from Ben's IEP meeting (that's Individual Education Plan). Overall it was a good meeting, the end result of which was Ben being officially moved from "temporary evaluation" to being certified by the state of Florida as being severely autistic and requiring a multitude of services from the school district. This was nothing new, he was already recieving all of those services, it's just all official now.
Among the pile of ducuments we recieved was the "Orange County, Florida, Public Schools Phychoeducational Evaluation Report, Exceptional Student Education Reevaluation". Among the data contained in the report was the result of the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS). It breaks down his developmental progress into several categories and estimates the age in months that he is at in terms of development.
The final summary: "CARS score in the severly autistic range."
So basically I am raising a three year old. Somehow it seems like it has been a lot longer than that....

- Physical Age (that would be his motor skills, not his size) - 34 months
- Self-Help Age - 42 months
- Social Age - 22 months
- Academic Age - 38 months
- Communication Age - 26 months
The final summary: "CARS score in the severly autistic range."
