According to this article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "...the Milwaukee County medical examiner's office has ruled the death (of the 8-year-old autistic boy) a homocide," That sounds great, doesn't it? The evil bastard who sat on the boy's chest and caused "mechanical asphyxia due to external chest compression" will be brought to justice, right?

Not so fast.

"...prosecutors Monday said state laws about religious healing practices are complicating decisions about whether to charge the man accused of being involved."

In other words, if a random group of thugs grabs an 8-year-old child off the street, four of them sit on his arms and legs, they throw multiple sheets over him, and then a fifth thug weighing 157 pounds sits on his chest and ignores his struggles and cries for help, preventing him from breathing and causing him to die in abject terror... well it's a safe bet that all five would be arrested and charged in the death of the child. But of course, these thugs murdered the child in the name of God, so the four accomplices will never even be charged and the head thug that crushed the boy's chest and made his last minutes on earth an absolute living hell, well he'll probably walk too.

Feh.

Perhaps a campaign to the local prosecutors should be started. Shouldn't be too difficult to figure out to whom to write. Because, while spiritual healing is allowed and encouraged by many sects, actions that directly lead to death (as opposed to indirectly) are still illegal.
