As the second day of driving began we had two small problems; first, my cell phone had no service (I eventually discovered my GSM phone only works in major population centers), and second we could not find a Chevron station to fill up the tanks with. Part of my budgeting involved paying for all of the gas onmy Chevron card, and it had never occured to me that we would have trouble finding one.

Still and all, we covered nearly 550 miles and saw some amazing sights. The continental devide was nothing short of awesome, absolutely breathtaking.

Crossing into the high plains was also amazing in a completely different way. We passed through Little Big Horn, less than fifteen miles from the site of Custer's last stand.

Entering the northeast corner of Wyoming, the landscape subtly changed yet again. We arrived in Gillette and saw a tiny bit of a lightning storm, starkly beautiful.

This really is an amazing country we live in, and I regret that I have seen so little of it.
