Well, as of today I am homeless. It has been a horrendously long day, and although at the time it seemed extremely stressful in retrospect everything worked out well.
The original plan called for having the big truck delivered this morning. Instead it came this evening at six. That allowed me to concentrate this morning on cleaning out my apartment, and by two in the afternoon I had my walkthrough and handed in my keys. I will be homeless for the next ten days.
When the big truck arrived we got it spotted right away. It took less than fifteen minutes to get my stuuf off of the U-Haul and physically onto the truck. Then there followed about twenty minutes of horror as I realized I was not going to fit my things into the three linear feet I had alotted myself.
With the stellar help of Kris and Riff we began to put everything in place, packing as tightly as possible. I began weeding things out that did not absolutely need to go to Orlando, and Riff used arcane skills to fit everything together like a puzzle. Kris helped provide muscle, and more importantly kept me from going insane.
Three hours into it we realized where the tv needed to go, which entailed undoing an entire column of stuff. It took about an hour to pull it apart and redo it, but finally by 10pm all of my belongings were in place and packed into a space of... three feet.
Late as it was, we still had to drop off several items at my mom's house and then retur the U-Haul. Since none of us had eaten, we went for a very late dinner (two closed IHOPs before we finally gave up and went to Denny's.
Now it is after two in the morning and I am finally getting to bed. Tomorrow looks to be a long day...
