Invariably, the first thing that Ben wants when he wakes up in the morning is some juice. This is the actual exchange between us this morning:
Ben: "Juice."
Me (asleep): *grumble*
Ben: "Juice."
Me (waking up): "Ben, you need to ask nicely."
Ben: "Daddy, I want juice."
Me: "No, you need to ask nicely and use all your words."
Ben: "Daddy, I want juice. Ok."
Me: "Use *all* your words."
I am still mostly asleep, with my back to him and my eyes closed. Ben moves around a bit, and I hear him fumble with picking up his mostly-empty juice cup from the night before.
Then under the blanket he presses the VERY COLD juice cup against my bare back.
Ben (sumultaneously): "Juice!"
I'm tellin' ya, communication ain't the issue here...
