"...or better still: a door!"
The people who built our house put in a crap front door installed by crap laborers who didn't properly seal anything. Six years later, and the water wicking up the bare bases of the door frame had rotted away the frame to the point where there was literally nothing there.
Today, our new front door was installed. It is a thing of beauty. You can check out the before and after pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/ronaldmi/NewDoor#. We have to wait 24 hours for the caulk to dry, then check it for any cracks and re-caulk where needed, and wait another 24 hours after that. Then we can paint.
We are very, very happy.
