I like to think I am a fairly bright guy. I have succeeded in a highly technical career, and generally regarded highly by my colleagues. Which doesn't change in the least the facts that 1) I am a !@#$ idiot, and 2) my wife is a freakin' genius.
In the entryway to our house there is a hanging light fixture at least a dozen feet up from the floor. It is unreachable from the stairway, and we do not have a ladder tall enough to reach it. Yesterday the light burned out. I contemplated how I might be able to change the light bulb. The best solution I could come up with was to possibly tether myself to one of the columns of the openings to Ben's playroom and then stand on the stairway railing to reach the light. This maneuver would likely be followed by my unfortunate plunge to the tiled floor below, and if I was very, very lucky I would only be severely injured.
My wife, on the other hand, took one glance at it and said, "Can't you just hook it and swing it over towards the play room and change it from in there?"
As a matter of fact, yes, you can. It wasn't even a real stretch, what with me being a tall guy. Not very bright, but definitely tall.
So if you ever come to our house for a visit and notice the nice, lit up light fixture in our entryway, you can thank my wife for that light.
