So, I haven't really posted much of anything lately, at least not of any real content. Here is my attempt to rectify that.
Generally speaking, life is good. If you read my wife's journal, you are already aware that she accepted a new job offer yesterday. I am very, very happy for her. She has been unhappy at her current job for a long time now, and this new job addresses virtually everything that she has been unhappy about. She already knows the people she will be working with, and has temped at the office on several occasions before, so the transition won't be as hard as it can sometimes be when changing jobs. It is going to be hard for her to give her notice at her current job, but once she gets past that I think she is going to be much happier. As an added bonus, she is going to get to come to Vegas with me this summer, which I am very excited about. Last year I had a good enough time, and it was certainly fun hanging out with Riff, but I was really disappointed not to be able to share it with Kris. I am hoping that we will be able to go see Love while we are there, and I am just generally looking forward to experiencing Vegas with her.
Ben is doing well, growing like crazy. A few weeks ago a reporter from the local paper followed us around the Magic Kingdom and interviewed both Sara and me. I gather the article is going to be featured in this Sunday's paper, and I am curious how that will turn out. Ben had a visit with the GI doctor about a week ago, and the doc was astounded by how well Ben is doing. The doctor actually thinks that Ben may not need two of the medications he has been on, but neither of them have any long term negatives so he doesn't want to rock the boat right now since Ben is doing so well. At the next visit in six months we will try dropping one of the two to see how he does.
Mom is also doing well, she seems much healthier than she has in a long time. It understandable took several months for her to recover from the abdominal surgery back during the holidays, but now she is up and about and doing great. She has a new friend that she has been spending time with, which is also nice. I know that she hates relying on me for so much (not that I mind at all, I really don't), so it is good to see her spending time with a peer and being able to get out and do some things independently. I just booked her plane tickets a few days ago, she will be traveling back to Seattle for about a month this summer so that she can go to a friend's wedding and also so she can see my nephew's play. It sounds like she will be able to spend some quality time with my sister and her kids, which will be very nice.
What else to talk about? I finally finished the bookshelves in my home office, and we got a nice dresser to put in here that looks beautiful and gives us plenty of storage for office supplies and such. The only thing left to do in here is the baseboard trim and a window treatment. I am very happy with how the office has turned out. On the work front, I had an excellent performance review this year, and had a very interesting conversation about my future job growth. I am pretty excited about where things are going from a career standpoint. My own independent consulting business is also coming together, you can see my (entirely content free) website at LokheedEnterprises.com. I really, really like the logo. Now I just have to create the actual content, somewhere during my copious free time....
So that's all I've got to report.
