A while back I signed up for a gmail account, mostly because of an article in Maximum PC about the nifty things you could do with it.
And then I didn't do much with it.
So last night, my dear wife says to me, "We need to find some kind of calander thing that we can share so we can keep keep track of things like when the animals need medication." Or something like that, I am paraphrasing. Immediately my mind clicked: isn't there a calander available from my gmail account? And can't I share that calendar? Surely enough, there was. This morning I set Kris up with her own gmail account, set us both up with calendars, and shared them between us. Then I plugged in all of my known schedule items, things like recurring reminders for pet meds, what days Ben or I have doctor's appointments, scheduled vacation, etc.
As I was poking around, I noticed the google link for photos. Now, currently I have some photo gallery software running on my website that we have used to publish pictures. But I am also in the process of completely re-writing jamesaxler.com and moving it into the DotNetNuke framework. One of the problems with that, which I had percolating in the back of my head, was that when I made that move I would lose the photo gallery (or at least have to back it up, and then find a new piece of gallery software when I move the site to a windows server). So anyway, I clicked on the photos link in gmail and discovered Picasa Web Albums. I have used Picasa in the past but never noticed the web feature. Mondo Coolness!
So anyway, here is a photo album I just uploaded ofpictures from the trip we took to Savannah, GA a few weeks ago. It is pretty much all pictures from Fort Pulaski and from the lighthouse on Tybee Island. Enjoy!
