Only 35 Days Left (No, silly, that's not how long the Space Cruiser Yamato has to save the Earth, it's how long until my first inline marathon.)
The past few months I have gotten pretty slack. I used buying a house, moving, and rebuilding the home office as excuses to keep me from skating. Now the clock is ticking (quite literally, there is a countdown timer on my desktop) and I have to get skating. The good news is that we now live a mile away from the West Orange Trail, and since I no longer have to get Ben off to school in the morning I have plenty of time to get in a good skate before work every morning. Of course, Kris and I leave for Boston in two weeks, so I'll miss out on a few days there. I can only get in half marathons in the mornings, so I'll need to do another test marathon either on March 18th or the 25th.
And hey, check out the marathon route (wrapped inside a cut block out of courtesy to linked friends so the image doesn't blow out their page):

The course starts at the Wide World of Sports and then hangs a left onto the Osceola Parkway. A turn north on World Drive takes me right past Blizzard Beach with the infamous Summit Plummet waterslide. Then another turn onto Buena Vista Drive and through the employee entrance to the Disney/MGM Studios, right past the Tower of Terror and the Earful Tower. The course winds its way all the way through the backlot, past the animation studios, and then down the main street of the park. From there I leave MGM and cross the street, going past the Swan and Dolphin resorts, through the Yacht Club resort, and then in through the International Gateway to the World Showcase at Epcot. The course passes every pavillion in the World Showcase except Canada (sorry you hosers), and then right through Future World and underneath Spaceship Earth (that's the giant golf ball to you non- Disney geeks). From there it's a long cruise along Epcot Center Drive, back down World Drive, and a return to the Wide World of Sports on the Osceola Parkway. And that's just one lap. I get to do it twice.
The marathon starts at 7am on April the 2nd. I expect to average a five minute mile, with a total race time of about two hours and twenty minutes allowing for a couple of breaks.
