No, that's not a misspelling -- on Friday night the local swimming pool strung up a makeshift movie screen over one side of the pool and projected "The Lion King" during and open swim.
Ben and I got there a bit early, which turned out to be a good thing. He was apprehensive about going into the building at first, and spent about a half hour watching through the window as people were swimming laps. By the time the cashier was ready to start letting people in for the open swim, Ben had settled down completely and was ready to go.
You should have seen his jaw drop when the movie started. It was Simba! On a really big screen! In a swimming pool!!! Yeah, he was pretty happy with this idea. He got into the pool, and before long he discovered that it was possible to swim over *behind* the screen and see everything backwards. He thought that was pretty dang cool.
He spent the last half hour of the movie out in the deep end of the pool where it was much less crowded. He was swimming around in 12 feet of water without a problem, and just generally having a great time. When the movie ended he got out of the water with no argument, and we got dried off and dressed and then headed home. As an extra added bonus, he was so worn out from swimming that he went to bed early and slept like a rock. Woo hoo!
Next week they are doing Monsters, Inc. and you know we'll be there...
