Four more days.  That's it.  Less than ninety six more hours, and we will be home owners.  I have a long list of things to do as soon as we close, and not much that can be done before then.  Our home owner's insurance policy was finalized today, so that's all good.  All of the inspections and appraisals and such are long since completed, and the loan is well past underwriting.  The title company is still cranking away on their end, but we should have all of that done by Wednesday.

We have started amassing a pile of boxes, although we haven't started packing yet.  We will bring up several car loads of stuff on Friday, basically clearing out our storage closets and anything else that we won't need in the next month.  I'll continue taking car loads of stuff throughout the Christmas break (I will be on vacation from pretty much the minute we close on the house all the way through to January 2nd).  The goal is that on the actual moving day (Friday the 13th) we will pretty much just be moving the large and/or heavy stuff.  We will have nearly a month to make the transition, so it should go pretty smoothly.

I just found out today that our apartment has already been pre-leased, so we are good on that front as well.  The penalties for breaking our lease will be offset by the rent from the new tennants, and that should come out as a wash.  One less thing to worry about.

Work-wise, it should be a very busy but fulfilling week.  The past two work days has been kind of an adventure.  I needed to create the web service that would be accessed by a smart client, and I had my thought process confirmed at every turn.  Every time I would think "okay, so logically what I need is this kind of class, which should live here...", I would go to that spot in the code and discover that David (our recently ex- framework developer) had already created that object, and had done so pretty much exactly like I would have.  It was kind of funny to constantly find him two steps ahead of me, but given that it was an area I hadn't had occasion to work in that's not surprising.  As I said, it is at least satisfying to have my thought process re-affirmed by another developer whom I respect.

I spent a good chunk of today spinning my wheels, trying to grasp the security model for Web Services Enhancements 2.0, but I finally sussed it all out around 6:30 this evening.  I was never completely stalled, and the side trips I had to make were very edifying, so that's ok.  I just kinda wish I had hit this point at the end of last week so that I would have had the web services in place this morning for our team meeting.  Ah, well.
