So theoretically, as of right now I am done with my commitments to the old team I was working on and can now focus entirely on my new team.  Assuming tonight's release goes well (and it should), that wraps up my previous commitments.  The past few days in particular have been frustrating in that I was still working for my old team, but that old team pretty much no longer existed.  I had a "supervisor" who I don't know from Adam and whom I couldn't pick out of a lineup if my life depended on it.  So there were some communication issues there, which I suppose is not surprising but that didn't make it any less frustrating.

And the 'crap!' part?  Another co-worker is leaving, someone with whom I have very much enjoyed working in the past.  I am being a little oblique only because while notice has been given it is not public knowledge yet.  So crap.  I am going to miss having this person around to chat with.  Ah, well.

I will be making my first trip to Ft. Worth in a few weeks, flying up on the Monday after Thanksgiving.  It should be a fun trip, as I have never been there before.  I'll have a whole new office full of people to charm with my witty banter and effervescent personality.  Or not.  If nothing else, it will be nice to see Raf and Amelia again, and to sit down in the same room with the new team.  We have much to accomplish in the next few months, and I am ready to dive in feet first.

Is this the person you suspected would be leaving?

No, it's not even anyone that would have been on my radar for leaving. And the departure has nothing to do with the recent re-org, it's just a case of a "can't pass it up" kind of job coming along.

*nod* At this point, if i leave precipitously, that'll be the case as well most likely.

ed told me that serena told him that a person told her that he or she was leaving. Well actually I am (obviously) not 100% clear on if that person told serena directly or if she just heard it from someone else.

woo hoo for zero information in our department and company, forcing us to subsist on rumors.

Whew - now how in the world did you keep all of that straight long enough to type it in?
BTW: Things are a hoppin' out there.
I turned down 3 offers that would have required relocating and 5 offers locally.
Today I am talking to a company about a VP position which wouldn't start until January 1. Have to tell you that is looking a little fascinating.
But Monday is the really interesting one. A place that actually values a depth of knowledge beyond UI and .NET....
I told them my $$ requirements would be in the 6 figures to commute and they didn't even blink.....hmmmmmm
