So, it's no great mystery that I was, um, displeased earlier this year when I was taken from the maintenance team.  I also did not have particularly kind words to say when Eli was promoted to being the Director for the tech department.  My exact words, (at least the kinder words a few days after the news broke) were:

"I think that Eli has a very short time in which to change a whole lot of people's opinions of him.  I'm not saying it's an impossible task, and for that matter if he can pull it off then more power to him.  But he has a real uphill climb ahead of him, and not a lot of foot soldiers willing to throw themselves on grenades for him.  I don't envy his position."

So here we are four months later, and guess what?  By and large, he has pulled it off.  I have to admit that my previous dislike of him came largely from the fact that his specific role in the process was never clear to me, and from my perspective all he was doing was meddling with the process and turning one hour meetings into day long meetings.  Now that he has been placed in a clear role, however, I have to admit that he seems to be doing a better job than any previous occupant of that particular seat.  On the whole I am generally happy with where things are going, although I certainly still have some difficulties with other links in the power chain.

So Eli called me yesterday evening out of the blue.  Asked for my opinion on a few things, which I gladly gave.  Then he asked how I would feel if, at the end of the year when the current contract with Hive.net expires, I was assigned back to Maintenance under Amelia and with Vanya as the primary QA resource.  My response was that this would make me a very happy boy indeed.

So it appears that I have three more months of forward development to slog through, and then I get to go back to the role I truly enjoy.  At least, that's the current plan.  If this plan does not come to fruition, I will undoubtedly have some very unkind words to say.
