248.5, people.  Two four eight point five.  My mind is boggling.

As a point of reference, my peak weight was just shy of 300 lbs.  For many years I stayed in the upper 280's to lower 290's.  When Kris moved out here last year my general diet changed (less take out, less pizza, more home prepared meals) and over the course of a year my weight slowly dropped down to the 270's.  Three months ago I began in earnest to change my body, because I was just plain tired of being a fat bastard.  (As I told my co-worker, I hope someday to just be a bastard).

It took me three weeks to drop my weight to below 270, from a starting point of 274. The day I looked down at the scale and saw 269.5 I knew I was actually going to be able to do this thing. Six weeks after that I broke the 260 barrier, and was damn happy.  Now here we are five weeks later, and I just shattered the 250 barrier coming in at 248.5 and I am just awestruck.  By the end of September I will be ready to go back to the doctor and get another body fat percentage test.  I am shooting for the 15-20% range, which is a good, healthy, non-competitive level.  I have no idea what my final weight will be, but it seems a foregone conclusion that I will reach it before the end of the year.  Yay!

*NOTE:  For anyone confused by the title of this post, it is a reference to an old Dana Gould routine.  He is talking about Neil Armstrong's "One small step for man..." proclamation, and points out that it was not a spontaneous speech but was something that had been written well in advance (and he even messed up the words).  Gould then goes on to imagine the room full of advertising pitch men trying to come up with a snappy phrase to say once we land on the moon.  The first suggestion is, "Holy shit, the moon!"  That is rapidly followed by, "Fuck the Russians!"
