This morning was the graduation ceremony for the 5th grade classes at Ben's school, Thornebrooke Elementary.  Ben's class got to walk the stage to receive their diplomas, which was very nice.  Unfortunately most of my pictures came out very blurry, but you can take a look at the ones that kind of turned out here.  In a shocking turn of events that surprised absolutely nobody (least of all me), Sara arrived late and missed seeing Ben walk the stage.  She started crying, and I just couldn't muster up any sympathy for her.  I mean seriously, how many important events do you have to be late for before you figure out the benefits of punctuality?  Anyway, Ben did very well although he seemed pretty confused by the whole process.  His teacher was in tears because she is seeing most of her class move on to middle school next year.  After the ceremony we went up to Ben's classroom and got to see a slide show of photos from the school year, and each got copies of the slide show on dvd.  (Most overused inspirational song of the year:  "You Lift Me Up" by Josh Grobin.  If I hear it one more time I'll puke.)

In other news, Ichi swapped shells sometime last night.  He seems much happier in his new, larger shell.  I saw Ni inspecting one of the other available shells yesterday, so it wouldn't surprise me if he makes a move sometime soon as well.  Overall all three are adjusting well their new home.  Ni and San still pretty much hang close together, while Ichi seems a little more aloof.

In other, more romantic news, Kris and I both have our wedding bands now.  Kris got hers on Friday and really loves it, and mine came in yesterday.  I wore it for a bit last night to see how it felt, and I like it quite a bit.  So now all we need to do is pick up the marriage license sometime next month and we are good to go.

My dad arrived late for my wedding. Heh.

I get a feeling of deja vu... like I've commented to you about this before...

Don't get me wrong, Sara is a very good mother. She keeps him fed and clothed, does not neglect him in any way, etc. She just seems to be hard-wired to be late. She missed his 100th ride on Snow White, she missed his private meeting with Snow two weeks later, she was late to his birthday dinner, and I believe in the past year she has been on time to pick him up on Sunday evenining precisely once. You would think that a teacher whose day is dictated by the precise starting and ending time of class periods would carry that forth through the rest of her day... but you would be wrong.
