No, I am not having an affair with your wife

So yesterday afternoon my cell phone rings, and the caller ID reads "private number".  Now, I am used to getting wrong numbers on the weekdays, what with my number being one digit off from a local middle school, but on Sundays it is pretty rare.  I pick up the phone and answer it, "Hello?"  Silence.  "Hello??"  More silence.  Finally I say, "Last chance...  hello?"

A man with a very thick hispanic accent finally speaks, asking "how do you have my wife's phone number?"

"Excuse me," I reply, baffled, "but you called me.  I have no idea who you are or who your wife is."

"Don't lie to me," he almost yells, "I have your number here on her phone logs.  How do you know my wife?!?"

"Dude, I think you've got the wrong number."

"No, I don't!  Tell me how you know my wife!"

This has rapidly become the most bizarre wrong number I have ever received in my life.

"Look, man, I have no idea who you are and I certainly don't know your wife."

"Is this 407-973-xxxx???"  (numbers removed to protect the guilty, but the last four digits are one digit off from mine.

"No," I reply, "no, it's not.  I am telling you that you have the wrong number."

He started in on me again, accusing me of lying to him, when I finally got both tired and annoyed with him.  "This is 407-973-xxxx you stupid fuck.  You have the wrong number.  Don't call me again."

For some odd reason he was upset with my tone, and was still swearing at me when I hung up.

But he never called back, either.

I got wrong numbers like this a lot. From the same person. SO often that I did finally change my cell phone number. Except they'd call me asking if so and so was there. When I said no.. they accused me of lying, with more than a few 4 letter words. I'm like, I have no clue who you are, who so and so is.. and this is a wrong number. Stop calling me. But they kept calling, So I changed the phone number and told verizon not to fwd any calls from the old number to the new one. I've never heard back from them. Thankfully.
