First of:  mom is doing mostly ok.  She is feeling better than she did yesterday, but she is still getting the stabbing chest pains.  Generally speaking, though, she is speaking much more clearly and seems more focused, so that's good anyway.

This morning I peeled myself out of bed to go get Ben sent off to school, and then came back home and spent about an hour tying up a few things for work so that I wouldn't leave Vanya high and dry when I took the day off.  As it turns out, I needn't have worried - despite being the QA resourse assigned to a release scheduled to go out in four more working days, he was pulled away from that task in order to spend the day on a different project.  That makes no sense to me whatsoever, and I said as much in an email to the PM in charge of this release.  It wasn't her fault, but I wanted her to be aware of the situation and that if it continued to happen then there was no way the release would go out on time.  Hopefully she will have more traction with current management then I seem to have.

Anyway, once I wrapped up the loose strings for work I sent an email letting everyone know I was taking the day off and then I went back to bed.  Kris didn't work today, and she laid there with me talking for a while.  She insisted that I needed to sleep, while I flat out said there was no way I was going to fall back asleep because I was too wound up.  Naturally five minutes later I was sound asleep.

I got another three hours sleep, and then spent the rest of the day just kind of hanging out.  I finished reading "Ring" (excellent book).  I made a dental appointment for Ben, and also started the process to get him in to see a specialist who came highly recommended by Ben's pediatrician.  Ben hasn't seen a doctor specialising in autistic children in over two years, and if nothing else we need to re-evaluate his current medication.

Ben went swimming for a while this evening, and just a few minutes ago he went to bed.  Which is exactly where I am headed now.  I feel like I could sleep for twenty hours.

You shouldn't worry about me missing a release date because i lost a day's worth of traction. My release is in better shape than 5.5.0.
I talked to [livejournal.com profile] damashita about the conversation you and she had, and it appears as if your opinion of Ronnie is only slightly lower than mine. I'm hoping that Larry goes the way of David Lowenthal and his predecessors and leaves shortly, taking his cronies with him. The technology department may not have been as productive as it could have been under Mindy, but morale was significantly better, and eventually the success that our team had could have caught on in the strategic teams.

Order is better than disorder, but drifting in the right direction is better than being driven in the wrong direction- not that all of the Yamron proteges are doing the wrong thing, but rather that the way they're going about it is having the most deleterious effect on the people who will actually get the work done.
