..and another one gone, and another one gone

The exodus continues.  We are losing the man with the most intimate knowledge of our legacy systems.  We are losing the woman with the deepest knowledge of our database design.  We are losing the super-star developer who has essentially re-architected our entire system for the better in the past year. We are losing a very strong QA person.  We still have no business analysts.  We are still short a director.  And tomorrow we have a three hour staff meeting that carries the strong odor of "Who Moved My Cheese".

I still have no intention of quitting, but...  good god, when is somebody in the upper echelon going to take notice and stop the bleeding?

Kansas??

WHAT?
Who is leaving now?
I thought you were the legacy guru?
As for BA's the upper echelon doesn't seem to think they need any and right now the market is HOT.
I have posted my resume - that is it, and have had 3 offers and am up to about my 15th interview! Bottom line is this area is like it was about 6 years ago for anyone who can spell analysis correctly.
Me? I am holding out for the 'right' thing. Picking up a consulting gig here and there, when it looks like 'fun' and/or the contact is hot. =)

Is Walker the "legacy systems" guy you're talking about, or is it someone else?

Ok... i missed the "Who Moved My Cheese" reference... will you please explain it to me so i don't feel so stupid?

I guess since his IM name is "Short Timin' it" that's a yes.

We're not talking papercut bleeding, we're talking arterial gushing. Someone needs to notice it, and do something to stop it immediately. It was hard enough when we had three teams working to support the business needs. Now we'll have two, and short-handed ones at that. They're going have a hard time just defining who owns what, much less negotiating who gets which resources- would you want to tell Lisa Bertini or Lanecha or Jen Gunter that they're just going to have wait in line, when they each will have legitimate projects which have real business value attached?

Around the time I started with the company, they were giving everybody a copy of the book "Who Moved My Cheese?" It was your basic flavor of the week managment fad wank.
